Empanadas are one of my favorite deep fried dishes of all time because they are so simple, yet so delicious. In 1985, Norma Gil and her sons, John, Shane, Jim and Jesse, opened their doors to the little Culver City Empanada’s Place. They would have never imagined how popular their unique empanadas would become.
Empanada’s Place is located on Sawtelle Blvd just 2 doors South of Venice Blvd. They feature twelve varieties of empanada’s every day including chicken, beef, and spinach. They use fresh ingredients such as real butter and vegetable oil along with authentic natural cheese in preparation and everything is cooked fresh daily homemade style.
The Restaurant itself is a very small but cozy place but has an extremely comfortable feel to it. They provide patio seating in front but the insides my favorite. Whether I’m headed to Helms Bakery in culver city to check out some furniture or towards venice beach to check out the shops i’m always one to stop off at Empanada’s Place to enjoy a tasty snack.
Also they have amazing dulce de leche cookies, coffee and flan that deserve a review all on their own!
