Lala’s has two locations, a Studio City strip mall type and the original one in Melrose Avenue. Melrose is where you’ll find the Hollywood actor types and young couples kick it on the patio. The Studio City location is north of the blvd and is right across the street from one of my favorite taverns, Laurel Tavern. A nice drink after dinner always does the trick. And if you’re really feeling strong you should swing by another local spot i like known as Dolorosa Tattoo and saheyto Chris Paez and the rest of the Dolorosa family.
Lala’s Argentine meals range from mollejas sweetbreads to skirt steaks. The fried, pounded-thin steak Milanesa is doused in garlic and herbs or cheese and tomato sauce. Eggplant, zucchini, onion and tomatoes come sandwiched between rustic bread or served on skewers with mashed potatoes and rice on the side. And for desert a traditional panqueques con dulce de leche, made with crepes and caramel, puts the finishing touch on your meal.
