London Paralympics 2012

The Paralympic Games are the world’s second largest major international multi sporting event where athletes with a range of physical and intellectual diabilities compete. Some of the disabilities the athletes have include mobility disabilities amputations blindness and cerebral palsy. Furthermore, there are Winter and Summer Paralympic which since the 1988 are held immediately following the Olympic Games.

This year the 2012 Paralympics are being held in London following the Olympic Games. Athletes competing in the Paralympic sports have an impairment that leads to a competitive disadvantage yet it is still a heavy challenge. The way the classification system ensures the success of an athlete is determined by  things such as endurance, skill, power, fitness, mental focus and tactical ability. Moreover, the classes group eligible athletes by their activity limitations in order to be as best equal as they can.
