Prior to the fight HBO aired a 24-7 special series to
For Floyd is seemed like he finally found himself in a real fight, complete with a bloody nose and an opponent like Miguel Cotto who has that ‘never going to quit’ mentality.
And like so many times before, Mayweather found himself a way to win. Although it wasn’t easy fo Mayweather. Cotto landed some hard punches, never slowed down and kept attacking all the way to the final bell.
During the fight Mayweather used his speed and accuracy during the bout to take home a unanimous decision over Cotto. It was a bruising bout for Floyd Mayweather who saw himself win a piece of the 154-pound title.
After the bout when the two were ringside Mayweather told Cotto, “You’re a hell of a champion, you’re the toughest guy I ever fought.”
Mayweather remains unbeaten in 43 fights after kast nights late dominated fight when he rocked Cotto in the 12th round to pull out the win. This was not the typical fight for Mayweather who ended up with some nice bruises and a bloddy nose. The types of things he normally likes to avoid.
Money wise, Mayweather’s purse for the fight was $32 million. Thats a state record according to Keith Kizer of the Nevada Athletic Commission. Cotto was guarneteed $8million. But after the Pay Per View receipts are counted im sure both will earn a lot more.
